The Service
Fresh mulch suppresses weed germination, holds soil moisture through dry spells, moderates soil temperature, and makes every planting bed on the property read as intentional. It is genuinely useful rather than purely cosmetic.
Done wrong it causes harm. Piled against trunks it holds moisture against bark and invites rot and pests — the volcano of mulch you see around suburban trees is actively killing them slowly. Laid too thick it goes anaerobic and sheds water instead of absorbing it. Two to three inches, pulled clear of trunks and crowns, is the whole secret.

Common Questions
One cubic yard covers roughly 100 square feet at three inches deep. Most residential front beds land somewhere between three and eight yards. We measure at the estimate and quote the yardage, so the material cost is fixed before we start.
Usually not. Old mulch breaks down into the soil and improves it, so adding a fresh layer on top is normally right. The exception is when previous layers have built up past three or four inches — then we pull some back rather than pile more on, because excess depth does real damage.
Spring is most common, but fall works well and has an advantage: it insulates roots through winter and you are not competing with everyone else for a landscaper in April. If your beds need it now, now is a fine time.
Either. We can arrange delivery of bulk material, which is considerably cheaper per yard than bagged, or work with mulch you have already had dropped. If you have a strong preference on type or color, tell us at the estimate.
